This time, four years ago, in February 2020, I was reduced to ashes or at least that's what it felt like. I remember that feeling as if it happened yesterday. It doesnโ€™t hurt as much anymore, but the events are as clear as day.

Those events changed my life for the better, to be honest, but at the time, it felt as if it was the end of the world for me.

Do you know what I needed at that time? I needed my near and dear ones (those at that time) to hold my hand and say to me, โ€œIโ€™m here for you; what do you need?โ€ โ€œIโ€™m here to support you and have your back.โ€

When you have a disabled child, you are constantly fighting an uphill battle. Itโ€™s a battle against the system, authorities, your emotions, peopleโ€™s opinions and, of course, society. You feel like you and your child are against the world, and most of the time, thatโ€™s true. But in that moment, if you know you have someone in your corner, you can easily take on the world.

When I look back at the last four years and how far I have come, I feel incredibly grateful to Allah, my parents, siblings and family & friends who have helped me through the most challenging times. Weโ€™ve made it this far because my mum selflessly looked after me and the kids, and guess what she said to me that time, โ€œIโ€™m here for you; what do you need? whatever it takes, weโ€™ll make it work.โ€ Just hearing those words does half the job for you.

Hence, my business is named after my beautiful mum to honour her sacrifices, strength and love. Whatever I have achieved in the last four years might not be much for some, but I am certainly very proud and grateful. The way I work and do things is at a different pace than others, but thatโ€™s okay because Allah has blessed me with the beautiful responsibilities of my gorgeous Afiyah.

Making Soy Candles and Vegan Soaps for my amazing and supportive customers is a therapeutic experience. This business is close to my heart for many reasons I can't put into words. Also, if you are wondering what I am holding in my hand in the photo with my mum, then you wouldn't want to miss finding out more about the She Inspires Awards.

So, if you are being reduced to ashes and need someone to be on your side, you must know I am here. You are never alone, and you should never suffer in silence. You must know you can do this and come out the other side. If I can do it, you can too.

Iโ€™ll finish this blog with a quote by Michael Bassey Johnson.

โ€œOn your way to greatness, you will fall, but like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, you too shall rise again.โ€

So, my gorgeous readers, keep faith in yourself, keep faith in the process and keep moving forward ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ
